White Vanity Table

Louis XV white vanity tables are back in style and are here to stay. Louis XV furniture has been around for almost three hundred years and it has always had its fans. Curving lines and carved flowers and corners are part of every model. A Louis XV white vanity table is a great acquisition for any bed room, whether it is for a teenager or for a woman’s room.  It is impossible to get a real one but a first-class copy is still great and will be appreciated by anyone who sees it. They do not have much storage space though, one or two small drawers on each side and a thin center drawer.

The edges of the table are finished in gold leaf and so are the flowers and leaves carved on the legs and sides of the table. The frame around the mirror is also very elaborate and has many curves and carvings around it. Most of them are crowned with a single large flower carved above the middle of the mirror. The design is not complicated; it is only on the legs and around the mirror where you have carvings and golden detailing, the rest of the table is white and pure. There is nothing more than the white table with golden trims to decorate it. It is simple yet beautiful and practical.

Modern style vanity tables are larger and have more space for storage. The mirrors are also larger and usually square or rectangular. Typically the mirror will occupy two thirds of the space behind the table. The mirror is set in a way that it can be used while standing or sitting. Old style vanities had small mirrors that required the user to move around in order to observe their face from different angles. The mirror was used to apply makeup and used close up. Today they have large mirrors where you can see yourself whether you are standing or sitting in front of it. Some modern vanities even have lights around the mirrors so you do not have to rely on indirect light to use it. They were used back in the fifties and sixties in the old movie star’s dressing rooms in Hollywood. These lights are not used any more but the style and size remains.

The size of the vanity for your room will mostly depend on the space you have available for it. Many women do not have them anymore because houses have shrunk and bedrooms are smaller. Today the bathroom vanity is well equipped with the necessary space and lighting for all a woman’s needs. They even come with a chair for her to sit on in the bathroom. But if you do have the space for a white vanity table in your room, they are beautiful and classic. They add a certain touch of elegance and history to any room, but be sure not to overdo it, keep it within a reasonable size and above all, keep it white and clean.
